CCAPT
Center for Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment

Originally founded in 1993, the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse (CCAPT) is the parent organization of the Family Enhancement Center. The motivation behind CCAPT came from three passionate therapists who identified a need in our community to help our most vulnerable members: children. Libby Bergman, Amy Moeller and Barb Klatt specifically recognized the long-term damage caused to children who experience abuse (physical or sexual) and neglect in their homes. The three joined forces to create the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse.
The organization has worked tirelessly with Hennepin County, schools and religious organizations to reach out and offer treatment, education and support to children and families dealing with abuse. As the organization has grown and expanded, CCAPT has adopted a new name to fully define its role in the community. The Family Enhancement Center remains a safe place for children and their families to deal with the issues, consequences and stigma caused by child abuse. Since its inception the organization has branched out by adding community education programs, groups focused on teen self-esteem and bi-lingual parenting programs.
For all of you who know us as CCAPT— we haven’t changed— we’ve evolved, and we will continue to identify and incorporate the needs of our community as we move forward in our mission.

~ Libby is Libby Bergman, the Executive Director at the Center for Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment. Libby is not only a therapist and a social worker specializing in childhood and family issues, but also a parent of two boys and is (self-proclaimed) "not quite perfect at it". In her blog, Libby writes about her thoughts, struggles, stories and insights, welcoming any other "not quite perfect parents" to share their stories and ideas with her. After all— maybe together we can come up with ways to become just a little more "perfect" as parents.
